This Test Bank has been prepared to assist you in the important task of developing thorough and meaningful quizzes, tests, and final examinations. The objectives of this Test Bank are clear: ( 1 ) Provide a broad variety of questions from which instructors can eesily custom tailor exams appropriate for their particular courses. ( 2) Provide a very large number of questions, many per section and some similar to one another, so that instructors can produce different exams testing essentially the same topics in succeeding semesters. ( 3) List the answers side-by-side with the questions so that instructors can rapidly locate questions that are appropriate and unambiguous in the context of their courses. (4) Group all questions by section heading within the main text to eneble instructors to select questions by section and by enrichment piece. The Test Bank contains over 4000 short-enswer questions that span the full range of regular topics and enrichment pieces in Computers and Data Processing . This is approximately two to three times as many questions as are normally provided in test banks for introductory computing courses. Three types of questions are included: multiple choice, true/false, and fill-in-the-blanks. Answers for the questions are provided in-line with the questions rather than requiring you to flip to separate answer keys. We suggest that you read each question and answer to see if it fits the context of your particular course. A computerized testing service is being provided by Academic Press. Each of the 4000 questions is available on disk ; software is provided to help you select and edit the questions you wish to include. Many instructors prefer to use multiple-choice and true/false questions to form machine-gradable exams, especially when large course sections are involved; approximately 2800 such questions have been provided. Some instructors feel that fill-in-the-blanks questions are appropriate because they force the student to read the material very carefully; approximately 1200 fill-ins have been provided. For each chapter, the questions of each type are organized by the headings under which they appear in the main text. Instructors will find this helpful in localizing questions to those sections and enrichment pieces actually covered in their courses. Answers for the multiple choice questions are indicated by an asterisk (*) several spaces to the right of the correct choice. Answers for the true/false questions are indicated in parentheses after the statement; the page number of the main text on which each answer may be found is also listed.
